1975 NFL- Week 3

I apologize for being a day late on this, we will have a double post with the NBA coming later tonight. The reason for the lateness is I spent time makign the rest of the NFL schedule for 1975, which turned out to be quite complicated, but I figured it out. Anyway, here are the week 3 scores.

AFC Scores

Denver 20 Oakland 17 (OT)
Jim Turner booted a 24 yard field goal with less than 2 minutes left in overtime to give the Broncos a surprise win over the Raiders and first place in the AFC West. A Ken Stabler to Bob Moore 39 yard touchdown with 32 seconds left had forced overtime for Oakland, but they could not pull out a win.


Miami 23 Buffalo 17
In a tough battle at Rich Stadium, the Bills controlled the ball game throughout, but took logn to score late after falling behind early and Miami won 23-16. A Don Nottingham touchdown helped seal the deal for the Fins, who are now 3-0.


Cleveland 6 Houston 10
In a tough defensive battle at the Astrodome, the Oilers got a game winning touchdown on a 21 yard pass from Dan Pastorini to Billy Johnson to win the game 10-6. That score was the only TD of the game.


Pittsburgh 6 Cincinnati 16
Another defensive battle took place at Riverfront, where the Bengals handed the Steelers their first loss of the season. The only touchdown in the game was from a Lyle Blackwood 57 yard interception return to help the Bengals to the win.


NY Jets 12 New England 21
A late 45 yard touchdown run by Andy Johnson in the 4th quarter sealed the dela for the Patriots as they improve to 2-1 in their win over the Jets. New York is now 0-3 on the season


San Diego 48 Kansas City 14
In a rainy quagmire at Arrowhead, the Chargers scored 48 unanswered after falling behind early and cruised against the Chiefs. Dan Fouts had 3 TD passes on just 11 completions as the Chargers won their first game of the year.


NFC Scores

Minnesota 7 Detroit 10
A Lem BArney interception return for a touchdown was the winnign score in the 3rd quarter for the Lions, who defeated the Vikings at the Silverdome. Chuck Foreman scored the lone touchdown for the Vikings, who lsot their first game since last season's Super Bowl.


Philadelphia 10 Dallas 20
20 unanswered points from the Cowboys helped the win this battle of NFC East undefeateds at Texas Stadium. Two 2nd half TD passes from Roger Staubach prpelled the Cowboys to a win.


San Francisco 10 Los Angeles 17
Lawerence McCutcheon had a 26 yard touchdown run o help the Rams come from behidn to beat the 49ers at Anaheim Stadium. Tom Dempsey had 3 2nd quarter field goals to account for the other Ram scoring.


Chicago 32 Green Bay 26 (OT)
In a wild game at Lambeau, the Bears blew an early 20-6 lead, but recovered with a Bob Avellini TD pass to Roland Harper to win it in overtime. The Packers had a chance to win in the 4th quarter with a John Hadl pass to Ken Payne tying the game at 26, but Joe Danelo missed a crucial point after.


St. Louis 17 Washington 14
The Cardinals came back from down 11 in the 4th quarter to edge out the Redskins at RFK. Jim Bakkne's 34 yard field goal with just over a minute left was the winning score for St. Louis.


Atlanta 13 New Orleans 26
In the first NFL game at the Superdome, the Saints surprised everyone with their first win of the year. Down 13-9 at the half, Rod McNeill and Archie Manning had 2nd half rusing TDs to help the Saints to a win.


Interconference Score

Baltimore 21 NY Giants 0
The ground gameof the Colts commandered this game as they dominated the hapless Giants 21-0 at Shea. Lydell Mitchell had two rushing touchdowns for the now 2-1 Colts.
