1975-76 NHL Week 5

Here we go with week 5 of the NHL. At the end will be both NBA and NHL schdules for next week.


Boston 3 Montral 3 (OT)
In an intense battle at the Forum, the Bruins managed to tie the Canadiens 3-3. Steve Shutt scored twice for the Habs and Guy Lapointe had two assists, but a late shorthanded goal in the 3rd by Phil Esposito helped ofrce a tie for Boston.


Atlanta 3 St. Louis 2
At the Barn, the Flames hung on against the Blues to improve to 5-0-0. A three goal burst in the second period gave Atlanta a big lead and they withstod a St. Louis comeback late for the win.


Pittsburgh 5 Buffalo 3
At the Aud, the Penguins led throughout for an upset win over previously undefeated Buffalo. Piere Larouche had two goals for the Penguins and Ron Stackhouse added two assists in the win.


Chicago 3 Philadelphia 4
At the Spectrum, the Flyers won a hard fought battle with the Hawks. Rick Macleish scores twice as the Flyers scored every goal i nthe first period. Chicago came back late, but could not tie it.


Los Angeles 3 Toronto 5
In an upset at Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto won their first game of the season. Errol Thompson scored twice and added an assist and Lanny McDonald had a goal and two assists for the Leafs.


NY Rangers 3 Vancouver 5
At Paccifci Coliseum, the Canucks improvd to 3-2-0 with a win over New York. Dennis Ververgaert had two goals and an assist and Chris Oddleifson had three assists for the victors.


Minnesota 4 California 4 (OT)
In Oakland, the North Stars got their first point of the year with a tie of the Golden Seals. Bill Goldsworht scored twice for the North Stars while Wayne MErrick had a goal and two assists to lead California.


Washington 2 Detroit 7
The Red Wings' first win came in big fashion over the Caps at the Olympia. Rick Lapointe had two goals for the Wings and Michel Bergeron had a 2 goals and an assist in the win.


Kansas City 1 NY Islanders 13
In one of the biggest blowouts in NHL history the Islanders destoryed the Scouts on Long Island. New York had a 8-0 lead after just the first period. Bryan Trottier had five goals alone and Gerry Hart scored twice.
