We're approaching the halfwya point of the season here as we have week 7 of the MLB.
Mid-week Makeup Games
Detroit 16 Kansas City 13
In a slugfest at Royals Stadium, the Tigers put up five runs in the ninth to complete a comeback win over Kansas City. Bill Freehan's three run homer in that late rally broke a 13-13 tie.
Cleveland 9 Minnesota 7
In Minneapolis, the Indians scored four runs in the top of the ninth for the victory over the Twins. Back to back home runs by Rico Carty and Oscar Gamble accounted for the tying and winning runs in the final inning.
Regular Weekly Games
Houston 5 Montreal 6
At Jarry Park, the Expos came back from being down 5-0 to pull off a great comeback win. A four run seventh inning completed the rally for Montreal. All 13 Expo hits in the game were singles.
Minnesota 6 Boston 5
After giving up a win late to the Indians earlier in the week, the Twins came back in the ninth at Fenway to defeat the Red Sox. Rod Carew's 2 run single in the ninth tied and then won the game for Minnesota.
CHI White Sox 2 Cleveland 3
At Municipal Stadium, the Indians got a solid eight innings from Dennis Eckersley to win their second game of the week. Eckersley allowed just 3 hits, 3 walks, and struck out 9 in getting the victory.
Los Angeles 3 Pittsburgh 1
In a tight battle at Three Rivers, the Dodgers outlasted the Pirates. Home runs from Steve Yeager and Steve Garvey were enough for Los Angeles as Don Sutton pitched a solid seven innings.
Oakland 2 Baltimore 6
The Athletics suffered their first loss of the year at the hands of the Orioles in Baltimore. A three run seventh innign broke a 1-1 tie for Baltimore and was enough for the win. Mike Torrez got the win on the mound.
San Diego 7 CHI Cubs 3
In a monsterous sixth inning, the Padres scored all of their runs as they defeated the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Six singles translated to seven runs for San Diego as 11 batters came to the plate in that inning.
Atlanta 1 Philadelphia 8
The Braves are now an absymal 0-7 as they suffered another beating, this time in Philly. A Mike Schmidt three run blast in the fifth blew the game open for the Phillies as Tom Underwood thre a complete game for the victors.
Kansas City 17 Milwaukee 7
The Royals offense went nuts again this week, as they blew the Brewers out of County Stadium. The royals scored eight runs in third and a grand slam by Tony Solaita in the fourth gave KC as 14-1 lead after just four innings.
Cincinnati 13 St. Louis 3
A 5-2 game heading into the ninth turned into thrashing as the Reds scored eight in th final stanza to defeat the Cards. Seven hits guided the Reds to those eight runs as Dave Concepion had 6 RBIs in the game.
California 13 Detroit 2
The Tigers pitchign allowed 13 runs for the second straight game in a home loss to the Angels. Orlando Ramirez led California as he had three singles and 4 RBIs on the day.

POSTPONED RAIN
A doubleheader day at Shea turned into a washout with a front mdumping an inch of steady rain on the Big Apple. Both games will be played midweek next week as part of a doubleheader with the Yanks plaing early adn the Mets the nightcap.
