1975 MLB Week 5

We are wrapping up the first half of divisional play as we go to week 5 of the MLB. One change I made is not including winning and losing pitchers anymore, just a game summery.

Montreal 6 CHI Cubs 7
At Wrigley, Montreal reliever Fred Shcerman threw a wild pitch in the 10th, scoring the winning run for the Cubs. Chicago got a two run homer from Rick Monday in the sixth, but lsot in the lead in the ninth and had to recover in extras to win.

NY Yankees 1 Baltimore 3
At Memorial Stadium, Jim Palmer went the distance for the O's as they defeated the Yankees. Lee May's tw orun homer in the fourth was the difference maker offensively for Baltimore.

Philadelphia 4 NY Mets 6
At Shea, a five run second inning outburst by the MEts was enough to give them the win over the Phillies. Thre of those five runs came from a bases clearing double by Felix Milan.

Milwaukee 16 Boston 14
It was a hitting bonanza at Fenway as the Brewers outslogged the Red Sox. The teams went through a combined 13 pichers and had a combined 35 hits. Most of the runs came early as Milwaukee led 14-10 after jsut 4 innings andheld on from there.

Atlanta 6 San Francisco 9
The Braves fell to a major league worst 0-5 with a loss at Candlestick. Von Joshua had four singles for the Giants, who scored four runs in the sixth inning to take and hold the lead. San Fran is now 3-2 on the year.

Clevleand 8 Detroit 5 (10 innings)
A 3 run tenth inning, capped off by a two run homer from Oscar Gamble, gave the Indians a tight 8-5 victory over the Tigers. John Ellis kncoked in 4 runs on 3 singles for Cleveland as well.

Los Angeles 1 Cincinnati 5
A Tony Perez 3 run homer in the sixth inning was the difference maker in the Reds' 5-1 over Los Angeles at Riverfront. Don Gullett allowed jsut 3 hits in 6 innings to get the win for the Reds.

Oakland 8 Texas 4
The A's remain the only undefeated AL team as they took down the Rangers in Arlington. Joe Rudi had a two run homer in the fourth that gave Oakland a 6-1 lead at the time.

Pittsburgh 7 St. Louis 12
At Busch Stadium, the Pirates lsot their first game of the season to the Cardinals. Reggie Smith had two rBI singles and a two run homer as the Cardinal offense lit up a previously stellar Pirate staff.

CHI White Sox 10 California 2
In Anaheim, the White Sox won their first game of the year in convincing fashion over the Angels. JErry Hairston led Chicago by going 3 for 6 with a double and 2 RBIs.

Houston 1 San Diego 5
At the Murph, the PAdres got 5 strong innigns from starter Brent Strom and went on to defeat Houston. Bobby Tolan had two singles and a double while also scoring 3 times for San Diego.

Minnesota 1 Kansas City 10
IT was a rout at Royal Stadium as KC crushed the Twins. Paul Splittorf threw 6 solid innings for the win for the Royals. Amos Otis hit a two run homer for the Royals as a part of their 10 runs.
